Barbara
Lively Mastaglio resides most of the
year in Norfolk, Virginia in historic ghent. She also
enjoys summers living by the cliffs of Ireland on majestic
valentia island. Barbara and her husband, tom, have
spent recent years traveling to Ireland to oversee the
restoration of their 18th century stone cottage, where
space was afforded for an artist’s gallery and
teaching studio. From most windows there are views of
the north - atlantic ocean, the dingle peninsula and
the quaint fishing village of portmagee. The grounds
of their hilltop estate boasts panoramic views of sea
and land allowing visiting artists and art students
constant subjects for their work.
Barbara paints almost
exclusively in oils. She follows rembrandt by using
different pallet knifes in many of her works to achieve
texture and depth, utilizing emotion and color to achieve
her desired affect. |
